Want to Write for The Logged Universe?
We’re looking for writers!
“The Logged Universe” is a shared story universe told and interpreted by writers. Humanity unearthed a record of a future humanity dealing with life before, during, and after we invented simulations. It’s up to us to read & tell its stories.
How it works:
For the first season, Genesis, we work with each writer to produce a short sci-fi story (5000-8000 words) in this universe, published under CC4 BY-SA. It’s released as e-book, blog, youtube, and podcast: all free to read & listen. Each story has its own NFT collection containing memorabilia from the story. This is designed and developed by Untitled Frontier. In return for writing the story, we split (50/50) primary & secondary revenue from the collection’s NFT sales.
Sales from the first and second story totalled over $30,000 (in ETH). Thus, expected remuneration is expected to be over $5,000.
What kind of stories?
Although it is primarily sci-fi, we are looking for any kind of story that just happens to take place in a simulated future (before, during, and after). A core theme of “The Logged Universe” is to explore humanity through the lens of a simulation. How do things that are important to us know, change? What does love mean? Grief? Friendship? Cities? Meaning? Family? What do we become when we can do practically anything? The story universe is CC4.0 BY-SA, which means that any element can be re-used. Additionally, it is perceived that each writer ‘interprets’ this fictitious record, and thus, there is no true canon. You can write your own vision of a simulated future.
We are prioritising a diversity of voices. The future belongs to all of us and we want to ensure that the stories that are told comes from everyone.
Working Together
We’ll work together to brainstorm a story outline. Then, a draft is produced. If necessary, basic plot editing occurs, after which it goes back to the writer. The subsequent draft then undergoes copy & line editing, after which there is a final proofread check. Once this is done, we take control and produce the ebooks, voice narration, and publishing. After this, we design and develop the accompanying NFT collection.

We edit/refine the story, commission a visual artist to create a cover, produce voice-overs & narration, publish it, design & code NFTs, and we split (50/50) revenue of NFT sales.
